SEO Case Studies

A useful SEO case study states the problem, the changes made, the timeframe and how much of the result can honestly be attributed to SEO. This page shows how we document projects, how to read any SEO success case study critically, and where to find our client-approved work.

  • Evidence-led recommendations
  • Plain-English reporting
  • Built for London and UK markets

Quick answer

  • We publish only client-approved projects, with baselines, dates and attribution limits.
  • Case studies appear in our portfolio, split into web SEO projects and GMB SEO projects.
  • Every study explains the problem, intervention, timeframe, results and what else may have contributed.
  • Beware case studies that show a single chart with no dates, baseline or context.

What makes an SEO case study trustworthy

Many SEO case study examples are persuasive but vague: a rising line, a large percentage and nothing else. Without a start date, a baseline, the work performed and an account of other influences, you cannot tell whether SEO caused the change or whether the business simply had a good season. A trustworthy case study answers those questions openly.

We therefore document projects to a consistent standard, and we state limits as clearly as results. A modest, well-evidenced result is more useful to a buyer than a dramatic number with no context.

The structure we use for every case study

Each case study follows the same sections so projects can be compared.

  1. Context. The business, market and starting position.
  2. Problem. What was wrong or missing, with evidence.
  3. Intervention. The specific changes made, in order.
  4. Timeline. Dates for start, implementation and measurement.
  5. Results. Metrics with baseline and comparison period.
  6. Attribution and caveats. Other channels, seasonality, site changes and anything else that could affect the numbers.

Types of projects we document

Our work spans several kinds of SEO, and case studies are grouped to match. A technical SEO case study shows diagnosis and fixes to crawling, indexing or speed. A local SEO case study focuses on Google Business Profile and local landing pages, with calls and direction requests as outcomes. Small business, ecommerce and B2B studies show how priorities differ by model, and an SEO strategy case study documents planning and roadmap decisions.

Browse these in our portfolio of web SEO projects and GMB SEO projects, both of which are updated as clients approve publication.

How to read any SEO case study critically

Use this short checklist on our work and anyone else’s.

  • Is there a clear baseline and a comparison period of the same length and season?
  • Are results tied to business outcomes such as leads or revenue, not only rankings?
  • Is the work performed described specifically?
  • Does the study mention other marketing or site changes at the same time?
  • Can the client be named or verified, or is the data anonymised?

Why some results are anonymised or delayed

Clients often prefer not to be named, and some data is commercially sensitive. In those cases we anonymise the business but keep the structure, dates and metrics intact, and we say clearly that the study is anonymised. We do not invent or composite case studies, and we do not publish results without the client’s approval.

If you need references or a private walkthrough of relevant work before deciding, ask when you contact us and we will arrange what is permitted.

What results can and cannot tell you

Past results do not guarantee future outcomes. Every site starts from a different position, with different competition, budgets and constraints. A case study is evidence of method and judgement, not a forecast for your business. That is why our proposals set targets from your own data, using the approach in our SEO ROI and reporting guide.

Examples of SEO success case studies we document

Our SEO success case studies are deliberately modest in tone. A small business SEO case study, for example, might describe a profile clean-up and three service page rewrites, with calls from Google Business Profile as the main metric. An ecommerce SEO case study might focus on category templates and faceted navigation, with organic revenue by category as the measure. A B2B SEO case study could describe a product page restructure and the effect on demo requests.

These examples show why format matters: the metrics and caveats differ by business type. We therefore avoid a single headline number across all studies, and we say what a number does and does not mean for readers in a different situation.

Questions to ask when you request case studies

When you ask any provider for case studies, request three things beyond the headline result: the starting data, the list of changes and the dates they were made. Ask what else was happening at the time, including seasonality, advertising and site changes. Ask whether the client would act as a reference. A provider confident in their work will welcome these questions, and the answers will tell you more than the case study itself.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I see your SEO case studies?

In our portfolio, divided into web SEO projects and GMB SEO projects. New projects are added as clients approve them.

Do you publish real client results?

Yes. We publish only real, client-approved projects and we state baselines, timeframes and attribution limits.

Why are some case studies anonymised?

Some clients prefer privacy or have commercially sensitive data. We keep dates and metrics intact while hiding the name, and we label the study as anonymised.

Can I speak to a past client?

Where a client has agreed to act as a reference we can arrange it. Ask when you contact us.

Will I get the same results?

No case study can promise that. Results depend on your starting point, competition and implementation, which is why we set targets from your own data.
